At some point in your life, have you experienced having a lot of different kind of knives which you can't use anymore because they are not as sharp? I have! Honestly, I used to throw them away, but my parents suggested that I buy a sharpener somewhere. I haven't really thought about getting one because I remember the last time someone tried to sharpen a knife with the rectangular black thing, he hurt himself. Good thing it was just a minor cut and we were not required to bring him to the hospital. Whew! I really don't like sharp objects!
I was really surprised to find an updated and "safer" version of knife sharpeners. I guess I've been living in the nth century for awhile. This tool made by KitchenIQ Angle Adjust sharpener works really well for me. The instructions are super easy to follow and you can use just about any kind of knife with it - coarse, fine and serrated!
The angle adjust feature makes it even easier to know the angle you should use for a specific knife. Here's the suggested sharpening angles as noted from the packaging:

This is the first product I placed in my "Gift Suggestions" list. If you want to know more about the product, you can visit their website, Facebook page, Twitter account or Pinterest page. I've seen this knife sharpener in stores like Crate and Barrel, Williams Sonoma and even Amazon.com!
Now, the answer to the question why you shouldn't throw old knives away? Simple and quite obvious - because you can still use them, literally like in forever... that is, if you take care of them properly. So, don't waste another knife, sharpen it the right way.
