Hightopps Backstage Grill

Overall Rating: 4.5/5
Budget: $10-$20/person

My husband and his colleagues has been going to Hightopps Backstage Grill for quite awhile now. Every time they do, he tells me how nice it is there and how much he wanted to bring me there because he said I'm going to like it. So, one time when we were near the area, he was able to finally achieve his goal.

When we arrived, I noticed that the parking lot is full. Good thing there's a building at the back of the restaurant so we were able to park there. I am not sure if the reason for full parking is the football game but I started thinking, this must be good.

Food
Slider Sampler and Hightopps Jambalaya

There's a lot to choose from from the menu but it was a few hours after lunch so I decided to have a sandwich. I didn't know their sampler sandwich - tuna, turkey, beef and chicken - is going to make me so full! I only finished two because they were not "mini" sandwiches, each piece is only a bit smaller than the regular hamburger buns. I took the other two home for dinner and I thought they were all great! I love that you have the option to either have the potato rolls toasted or not. You'd also know the difference not just in presentation, but in taste, from a deli/sub.

My husband ordered the Hightopps Jambalaya. The serving was generous my husband almost didn't finish it but of course, he always does. The rice was not just topped with chicken but they also put two pieces of bread/biscuit which he shared with my daughter.

Cleanliness
Overall, it looks clean. If you choose to sit outside, you might notice the seat covers [of the cushions] looks like they need to be washed, some are stained too. Some tables too, were left uncleaned, I saw a few cigarette butts and ashes. Good thing I always have wipes and alcogel.

Kid-Friendliness
They offer several kids meal priced as usual, $4.99 each and it already comes with a drink. We stayed outside so I didn't know if they offer highchairs or booster seats. The only thing I'm sure we were given a kids menu coloring sheet but no crayons. There is a children's playground too to keep your little ones busy.

Customer Service
We were accompanied to our seats after a minute. They even asked us where we wanted to seat because there were a lot of options. From those regular restaurant view, sports bar scene also feels-like-home dining [think fireplace] areas you'll see below.

Since we were seated outside though, it takes a long time for the server to get to us. So we have to wait a bit longer before we can be assisted. I hope they have those push the button thing to get their attention.

Complimentary Stuff
Free Parking

So, having tried and tested it, are we going back? Sure! Specially on summer, heard my husband saw some wearing their bikinis on the beach thing they setup. I just got to see it, I might wear one myself! ;)

  5. I love this kind of food. It looks like a BACKYARD BURGER here in Davao City, Philippines. A cowboy kind of stuff, very comfy and foods are great.
