Sweet Treats For Your Allergy!

Enjoy Life
When my daughter was pre-diagnosed with milk allergy, I was so worried I won't be able to eat sweet treats anymore! It's been almost two months since I stopped eating dairy because I am nursing her. I am so glad to have finally visited Wegmans last weekend. They have a gluten-free section and other allergy-specific foods. The best thing I discovered? A brand that makes baked goods without the eight (8) major allergens! Plus, they're also non-GMO certified! How awesome is that?
Gluten-Free, Non-GMOFree From 8 Major US Allergens
I know a friend who's daughter has peanut allergy, the other with shellfish and tree nuts, one with milk and soy and the others have milk intolerance. I never really knew how important it is to know and how serious these allergies can be. I never really paid attention to labels and what they really mean until I experienced it first-hand!

I read that's it's becoming more and more common these days and the reason is still unknown. Well, I am so glad I was able to get a few boxes for breakfast and snacks. With all honesty, I finished those six (6) boxes in 5 days! I am always hungry and I have a sweet tooth, that's why.

Chewy Bars
Choco Loco -  I thought it would taste like granola bars, but no. I love the texture of this bar which is semi-coarse. Plus, it contain chocolate morsels! Oh yes!
SunButter Crunch - It's not that sweet, really. From the four kinds I bought this has the less sweetness and I think I like that too. Too much sweet makes me thirsty and sleepy. LOL! But I guess I'm okay with that. Anyway, I am not into "peanut" butter, but this butter bar is an exception, maybe because it's not really made of nuts. LOL!

Soft Baked
Chocolate Chip - You know what I told my husband? It tastes like an extra-soft Chips Ahoy! Seriously! I never thought it could be this delicious! I finished a dozen in one sitting. LOL!
Double Chocolate Brownie - This also tastes good. Like a fluffy cookie with chocolate morsels. The morsels tastes more like M&M's without the colorful shell.

Fresh or Frozen Breakfast?

The school has just started and for some families, it means busy days ahead. Meal preparation can be one of the culprits in consuming your time. Imagine the need to prepare two meals - breakfast and lunch (not even counting snacks) right after waking up. I can imagine the scene.

So, what is actually better, getting prepared meals or cooking fresh food? I find them equally beneficial, let's discuss what they are.

1. Pre-packaged meal - This type of food can be ready in a minute! You need not do anything but get them from the freezer or fridge in some cases. They may not be an immediate hit for your family that's why you have to try it first to find what you like best. Also, you just got to choose what's right for your diet. Some Hormel Compleats are gluten-free and comes in varieties like Chicken & Rice, Sausage Gravy & Roasted Potatoes and Bacon Breakfast Scramble & Sausage Breakfast Scramble.
Hormel Compleats come in other flavors too.
2. Cooked from scratch - I know, not really from scratch because most are already seasoned, but you still have to cook it, right? ;) The thing I like with home-made meals or meals from scratch is you can incorporate what kind of ingredients you like. Whether you prefer natural, organic, no-MSG, gluten-free, you a free to add whatever you like! Well, I guess it's a good thing Hormel Natural Choice is all of it! It doesn't even have that Nitrate/Nitrite thing! Although, the preparation time depends on method of cooking - I like mine either fried or oven-baked.
Look at that plate. Whether fried or oven-baked, I know now what my picky 3-year old would eat! I guess next time, it won't be as hard to feed her. I hope she'd start to eat the Hormel Natural Choice ham with whole-grain bread. :)

So, dear parents, I think it doesn't really matter much whether it fresh or frozen. The ingredients are listed and you can read the nutrition facts. You just got to choose what you think is best for you family, especially if you're into some special kind of diet.

Healthy Snack in Back-to-School Pack

I am an active House Party member and I always apply whenever they post an open application to host. I recently got accepted in to trying and sharing Udi's Gluten Free products. I am so grateful for their generosity and also because of the tried and tested the quality. I have shared in my other social medias about the other products like pizzas, granolas and bread. For this post, I am going to review what they call "muffin tops".

First flavor, the Udi's Gluten Free Blueberry Oat, this I'd say is my 2-year old's favorite. She actually calls it cookie, it does look like a cookie, it's just that it's soft. There are four muffin tops in a box and each is separately packed in a plastic wrap, as you can see in the photo. That's makes it perfect as kids snack for school. The bread itself is moist and soft but enough to eat with bare hands. For OCD moms, I suggest eat it with a fork if you don't want crumbs to fall. You'd want to save the crumbs because you don't want to waste the delicious treat. As for serving at home, I just unwrap them and toss in it the oven for 10 seconds, just right to not feel the coldness because I have sensitive teeth. If you want a warmer one, add more time.

The Chocolate Chia is also as soft and moist. It has some chocolate chips and the texture is more like a wheat bread. The sweetness is just right, you can eat two servings without having the need to drink water.

So having tried and tested it, am I going to continue munching on them? Yes! First, because it's a healthier option for me, and second, because my daughter liked it. :)
